Editorial Policy

LeelineApparel maintains a strict separation between our procurement services and our editorial department. Our mission is to provide an objective roadmap for brands navigating the complexities of garment production.

1. Mandatory Financial Disclosures

All contributors, editors, and sourcing analysts must submit an annual disclosure form. Specifically, they must declare:

  • Factory Ties. Any personal or family ownership in garment factories, fabric mills, or trim suppliers.
  • Affiliate Transparency. If a link to a sourcing platform (e.g. Alibaba, Global Sources) generates a commission, this must be disclosed at the top of the article.
  • Consultancy Limits. Writers are prohibited from writing about specific suppliers for whom they have provided private consulting services within the last 12 months.

2. Samples, Prototypes & “Golden Samples”

In the apparel industry, samples are part of the workflow. Our policy is as follows:

  • Review Samples. Any garment samples sent by factories for quality review are archived in our “Reference Library” for 90 days to compare against bulk production quality.
  • No Retention. Editors are prohibited from keeping high-value samples (e.g. heavy outerwear or technical performance gear) for personal use.
  • Factory Visits. We do not accept “sponsored tours” where the manufacturer pays for airfare or luxury lodging. All factory site-visit expenses are paid for by LeelineApparel to ensure we can report on subpar floor conditions or safety violations without bias.

3. Dogmatic Independence from Suppliers

We frequently analyse the service quality of industry giants and logistics conglomerates. Our editorial stance:

  • No “Pay-for-Placement”. No supplier can pay to be moved to the #1 spot in our Best Clothing Manufacturers rankings. Rankings are determined solely by our proprietary 5-point audit (Compliance, Lead Time, MOQ, Communication, and Quality Control).
  • Criticism protection. We reserve the right to report on shipping delays, port strikes, or labour disputes involving our advertisers or partners. Our priority is the risk mitigation of the brand owner (the reader), not the reputation of the service provider.

Where we do run sponsored material, it is clearly separated from editorial recommendations:

  • Clear labeling. All sponsored content carries a prominent “Factory Spotlight: Sponsored” badge with distinct visual treatment, fully separated from editorial recommendations.
  • No ranking influence. Sponsored factories cannot buy placement in Top 10 lists or editorial rankings. Paid placements live in a dedicated “Spotlight” section.
  • Full transparency. Every sponsored article discloses the commercial relationship — compensation, samples received, or access provided — within the first 100 words.

5. Reporting a Violation

If you believe we have breached our editorial standards, please contact our independent compliance officer. All reports are confidential and reviewed within 48 hours.
